Can you smell it? Campfires, heady brews, slash pines and live oaks shrouded in a funky mist…Festival season is upon us, tighten up, its time to rage. In this day and age, that is the year 2014, we shall be kicking off the fracas at a local South Florida festival, The Virignia Key Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance! The Hoot is performing on Friday the 21st of Feb at the Dance Tent, 3:45pm, sharp. Theres plenty more going on as well with The Del McCoury Band, John Brown’s Body, The Spam Allstars, Driftwood, Toubab Krewe and many more great musicians throughout the weekend…we’ll be at it hard all throughout.
Then in March we make a pilgrimage to the great North of Florida, the Town of Live Oak for Suwannee Springfest 2014…there are too many great things to say about thisfestival, I won’t even try, just google it, you’ll be amazed and if you aren’t you need to sit down and think about your life. Sit down infront of a mirror and ask yourself “why wouldn’t I go camping in North Florida in March to listen to four days worth of face-shredding musicians like Sam Bush, Del McCoury, The Punch Brothers, Town Mountain, The Steap Canyon Rangers, Greensky Bluegrass, Quartermoon, Lyndsey Pruett, and Jon Stickley and many many more whilst surrounded by beautiful trees, fields of green (all types of green), with the Suwannee River just a short stumble away”?…and theres squirrels, everywhere. But before all this good clean fun we have our pre-St Patrick’s Day rager at The Funky Biscuit in Boca Raton, where, we’ll be opening for The Hackensaw Boy’s. Make it a point to check em’ out, just make sure you come early and see us, hell, come early and buy us a shot of Jameson, we like that stuff.
Also, Dave Welch, our banjolinist, wordsmith, and resident big game hunter, has shaven his epic beard off…sadly, I do not even have a picture of the beard in its true glory so I am using the stock photo of Dave holding a small Jackdaw…it helps me smile when theres nothing to smile about…like when Dave shaved his beard off.
